This is where I spend most of my time. Let me explain when people talk into white hat they speak of SEO which follows Google’s rules to a T. When people speak of black hat SEO they are talking about SEO which goes against Google’s rules. When People speak of grey hat SEO they talk about SEO which is in the middle. Personally I do not go by what Google says or anyone else I use what works and what makes me the most money. I have used black hat SEO and learned quickly that if you use extreme black hat you will quickly be banned so I firmly believe that black hat will get you banned and therefore will cause you to lose quite a bit of money. Now I also believe that the majority of webmasters use forms of black hat and grey hat seo so if you are to only use white hat seo then you will be easily beaten by those webmasters. Forget about what Google says and/or wants they don’t mean anything. Don’t get me wrong it is important to follow what they say to the point of staying in their index, but don’t follow whatever they say to a T. Like the rest of us they are out to make the most money possible and will do anything to make sure that they keep their income rolling in. I find it funny that Google says buying links is “black hat” when they offer to place your link on plenty of websites for a price. The only one out there who can sale links is Google through their adwords program, but if you were to sale a link on your website taking away from their program expect them to use their power to de index or drop you within the SERPs. So what should you do follow exactly what they say while they break their hypocritical rules on a daily basis or do you do what it takes to make money online. This is why I participate in what I call green hat SEO which to me means I do whatever it takes to make my living online and usually it means crossing some of Google’s rules.

Now I am not saying just because Google tells you to do something you should not do it, but rather take into consideration your best interest. If they tell you not to stuff keywords into your content and you listen, but go down in rank then feel free to place the keywords back into your content. If they say you are not allowed to buy or sale links and you can do so feel free there is no law that says you cannot buy web or link space on a website besides Google. My suggestion to you would be choose wisely and be discrete. Do what is best for you rather than exactly what Google says if something works then work it just be sure you don’t go so far overboard that you end up getting banned.
