1 Big Advantage And 1 Big Disadvantage Of Multi-Level Marketing

Social media has gotten me taking a closer look at multi-level marketing. Having done that I have come to the following conclusion.

There is one big advantage and one big disadvantage of starting a network marketing business today.

The big advantage I am talking about is how you can easily build a business all around the world. When you join a network marketing company you will be give everything you need to build an Internet business of your own.

Here is exactly what that means!

1. You are given a website to promote that includes selling products and sponsoring distributors so you can make money online.

2. You are given a system to capture your prospects name and email address for future follow up.

3. The system includes follow up messages where the company contacts your prospects for you.

4. You are emailed your prospects contact information so you can get in touch with them personally as well. Many times this includes a phone number for personal contact.

5. You are given marketing materials to promote your network marketing business all over the Internet.

6. You are given a membership area that includes statistics on how your business is doing and mlm training on how to improve your business.

The big disadvantage I see with multi-level marketing today is you do not develop your own email follow up list. When someone gives up their contact information it is going to the network marketing company. They are the ones building a mailing list and following up for you.

Although you are emailed your prospects information it is not going into an autoresponder for automatic follow up. What that means is you must contact people manually. That can slow down your progress depending on how much traffic you are getting to your website.

The advantage of having a system to build your business does outweigh the disadvantages of not building your own mailing list for most people. What I have seen is ordinary people do not want to build Internet businesses.

What they want is a way to make money online they can do without a lot of hassles. Most network marketing companies offer you this because of the total system they have in place.

If you are the type of person who wants to build your own online business, then you want to work at branding yourself and not your network marketing company. That means setting up your own blog and lead capture pages and promoting them.

This means you also need your own autoresponder where you will build your own mailing list. The nice thing about this approach is you can offer more products and opportunities in the future if you choose because you will have the names and email addresses to do so.

In summary you must determine what your goals are. You can make a lot of money in network marketing using the system provided by your MLM company. You can also make a lot of money as an Internet marketer building your own mailing list and promoting any product you want to it.
