The big disadvantage I see with multi-level marketing today is you do not develop your own email follow up list. When someone gives up their contact information it is going to the network marketing company. They are the ones building a mailing list and following up for you.

Although you are emailed your prospects information it is not going into an autoresponder for automatic follow up. What that means is you must contact people manually. That can slow down your progress depending on how much traffic you are getting to your website.

The advantage of having a system to build your business does outweigh the disadvantages of not building your own mailing list for most people. What I have seen is ordinary people do not want to build Internet businesses.

What they want is a way to make money online they can do without a lot of hassles. Most network marketing companies offer you this because of the total system they have in place.
